Thoughts on 1 Timothy 1:8-11 (Homosexuality)

    8 We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. 9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11 that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.

    So, I'm going to be doing a paper on the homosexual section of this text. I am looking for thoughts, outside resources, etc.

    Many argue with the Greek word used for homosexual here, that it does not mean what we think it means.
    I have done a lot of research on this and it really is a flimsy case.

    What say you?

    Leviticus 18 is clear on the Divine viewpoint on this
    HEBREWS13:4.....explains the the marriage bed of one man and one woman is the only place for lawful sexual activity.

    Leviticus is irrelevant unless you obey all Mosaic laws.

    And yes my thought exactly. Marriage is always always described male and female, husband and wife. The homosexual argument for this is that it was cultural, that simply because of the culture is why it was always written as male and female and that it doesn't transfer to today.

    Leviticus is not irrelevant in that God explained unlawful sexual activity in detail.While we are not in the ot.theocracy nevertheless we can learn from this portion of God's word.

    Some among the sodomite community comb through the scripture looking for loopholes to continue on in perversion.
    This only increases their guilt as they forsake the truth of God which is able to give them life.

    Yes, this is true. And then we have the troubling fact of professing believers thinking that their arguments can win others to Christ instead of believing in the power of the Gospel, the Word and Spirit to do so. It is a narrow an mitigating view of not only God's Word, but of God Himself.

    Yes...this is a major problem and you have tracked down a root cause.
    Trying to do in the flesh what only the Spirit can do in the spiritual realm. Willis old friend...Leighton Flowers denied the supernatural working of the Spirit in this way and boasted of his own humility in being able to do such things.
    Later on tonight I will start a new thread called bibleforums echoes.
    It will take fleshy posts from those who censor truth,show their error, and invite them into an uncensored forum to defend the indefensible,lol..their will be posts from the cowards shepherdsword, ammazzin, changed by him, slug1,pb minimum and other disciples of Finney.

    Sounds like fun.

    I believe it was sheperdsword who posted a lying diatribe against John Calvin accusing him of killing Jacques Gruet because he left a note on his pulpit calling him names or threatening him. Gruet was presented as a theologian.

    Nope. He was a lifelong criminal and he threatened Calvin, and was also wanted on charges iirc. He also hated God and was a devout atheist.

    I posted the truth of the matter, and was shortly thereafter banned. One thing the internet has shown is that many professing Christians don't want the truth, they want their truth. They don't like the God of Scripture, so they truncate Him into something they can manage. LOL!!!!!!!!!! Utterly ridiculous and remarkable!

    The laws in how they relate to us are in fact irrelevant, in terms of our behavior because anything and everything that is now relevant was spoken about in the NT. If you use Mosaic law against homosexuality then you have to also bring up the other 612 laws or else it becomes hypocrisy.
    The OT is not irrelevant, it's absolutely necessary. But for this subject, it has no relevance.

    I'm needing NT resources or arguments to back the condemnation of homosexuality as they are what pertains to my study.


    I'm lost, who are those people you listed? Are they members here?

    Where in the NT. does it say to spank your children?
    Is there a NT prohibition against bestiality?
    What about polygamy?

    Did God destroy Sodom and Gommorah before or after the Mosaic commandments?

    I disagree, But then again we always have Romans 1;17-30

    9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

    10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

    11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

    Jude says they were an example for us...he did not think the OT. was not relevant
