    Hello everyone,

I stumbled on some Youtube videos by a guy who calls himself the Tattooed Theist. Then I heard him mention these forums. Figured I'd check it out.

Anyway, I'd say my views are far from orthodox, as I tend to rely on sacred texts from another tradition. Nonetheless, I love the conversation and am willing to entertain pretty much any idea.

Welcome! We could use a different perspective on issues.

Thanks. I'd say that my views are more along semicompatibilist lines. I am somewhat agnostic about whether our actions are determined or free (whatever "free" even means) but I do not believe that moral responsibility is incompatible with determinism.

Well, I don't have everything figured out either, but from my study of the issue, I think people tend to see free will and determinism as an either-or issue, rather than being open to the possibility that it could be a both-and mystery like the incarnation of Jesus (both God and man) or the Trinity (three in one).

What does Gaudiya Vaisnav mean, by the way? Is that a Hindu thing? Are you Hindu?

Gaudiya Vaisnav refers to Vishnu devotees in the line of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. So, yes, it is a Vedic religion.

Hey man! I recommend joining our partner site for the type of discussion you are looking for - click here to join Skeptical Generation.

You are free to discuss here too, if you wish, but I warn this server is mainly for Christian theology.

Nice to have you here, and hope you enjoy! :)

Thank you. I am aware of the parameters. I simply bring perspectives upon which to reflect.
