Greetings to all in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. My name is Kenneth Mason, and I am currently living in Miami, Florida with my wife and two sons. I have been a child of the Living God for 25 years and a professional for 10. Though I am firmly non-denominational by conviction, I was raised in an independent, KJV only, fellowship equals food, Baptist church.

I am currently working for one of the best hospital systems in South Florida, but God has recently called me to focus on opening my own restaurant as a ministry to help reach, teach, and mentor children who have lived their whole lives within the foster system and have been emancipated as adults. The restaurant concept will be known as "Discover the Gospel" and will be a 4 year paid culinary training and mentorship program that will be capable of reaching 24 young adult fosters, who will be required to working toward a college degree of some sort while they work part-time hours at the restaurant. This will give them a chance to pursue a primary career while learning skills that they may use as a secondary career if they need.

I look forward to many discussions on this forum and pray that the Glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ shines through as a result of each discussion.

    that's an awesome ministry idea.
I hope we get to hear about it as you start to move toward getting that up and running. I love the heart behind that mission, truly.

Glad you're here, hope to hear from you!

I truly appreciate you taking the time to welcome me on this forum. I am honored that my ministry idea has gotten so much great feedback from everyone I have shared it with. I have learned many things in my short 33 years; some from experience, and some from the experience of others. One thing that I have learned recently that has stuck with me is this: one will often overestimate what they can accomplish in a year, and underestimate what they can accomplish in five years. I have truly taken that lesson to heart and decided to make Discover the Gospel into a five year goal. My biggest obstacle to overcome is getting the funding I need to open the restaurant. For a restaurant that seats 45 people, I will need an estimated $600,000 to go from scratch to turning the key on opening day. My goal is to have a successful gofundme page in place by the end of the year, and at least $150,000 - $200,000 in donations that I can use to start moving forward with the ministry on a full-time basis. It is quite possible that I may be able to open for much less, especially if I do not have to purchase land and build from scratch, but all of that is in the Lord's hands. My conviction right now is to start working toward that first goal so I can quite my job at the hospital for which I now work and focus solely on Discover the Gospel. Perhaps it will be a few years for that first step, perhaps not; but, all I am praying for right now is that I can get that gofundme page up and running by the end of the year. Any prayer would be greatly appreciated, and I will be sure to keep you updated as progress comes. God bless you.

Thank you so much for the welcome. I'm sure that you will find that I am not shy when it comes to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the faith & hope that I have in His name through the precious blood he has shed for me. May God be glorified, and the Gospel of His son be ever proclaimed through the discussions we have on this forum. God bless.
